EAN International is pleased to share with you the latest EANCOM® update i.e. EANCOM® 2002.
The objective of the EANCOM® 2002 has been to gather together in one document all the change requests that have been raised against the EANCOM® 97 standard, released in July 1997, and accepted by EAN.UCC.
It is important to note that this EANCOM® 2002 manual is based on
UN/EDIFACT directory D.01B.
EANCOM® 2002 now becomes the current standard, i.e. EANCOM® 1997
will no longer be maintained.
This publication includes both:
- EANCOM® 2002, syntax version 3;
- EANCOM® 2002, syntax version 4.
The final version of EANCOM® 2002, has been produced in two formats:

This version is augmented by references to the implemented change requests. This should help in understanding the nature of the agreed changes.EANCOM® 2002 (Experts)
- Terms used
EANCOM® 2002 does not employ the old terms for locations and products/services, but will now use:
Global Location Number GLN and
Global Trade Item Number GTIN
- HTML Layout
Different colours are used for the code values in the segment details: restricted codes are in red and open codes in blue.
